Fulton 3700 cir. 1935-43

The 1925 Sears, Roebuck & Co. catalog.  Someone was perusing this catalog when they decided to order this very plane by mail.

Here it is, 1925 Fulton model 5271 corrugated iron jointer plane.  $5.10.  Converted for inflation to 2020 dollars, that's $74.06.  A bargain still today.

Would you have paid $17.50 + $25.00 shipping for this plane?  If I had known how bad the condition was, I  may have decided to pass.  Still, I love trying to save the tough ones.

Here is what I saw on the eBay listing.  Looks about average for a rusty plane.

The grime on the depth adjusting nut gave me some concern, but brass cleans up easily, right?  Famous last words...
